Charles Barkley says the NBA ‘doesn’t have the balls to suspend LeBron

Right before the playoffs officially started, LeBron James got himself in a lot of trouble violating the league’s health and safety protocols after he partied with Drake and Michael B. Jordan. Luckily for him and the Lakers, the NBA announced he wouldn’t be suspended for game one against the Phoenix Suns. LeBron is too influential, and the same rules often don’t apply to him, unlike other players, and Charles Barkley thinks the NBA doesn’t have the power to discipline him if necessary.

“Let me tell you somethin. Hey, listen, I love Adam Silver, rest in peace, David Stern, best commissioner in sports. The NBA ain’t got the balls to suspend LeBron James.”

Barkley is also aware of the influence, and power LeBron holds in the league, and even though there were some indications that he might get suspended, he immediately knew that wouldn’t be the case.

“If it was a nobody, they would put him in health and safety protocols. Ain’t no f*ckin’ way LeBron James is gonna sit out in health and safety protocols. When I read that, I just started laughing.”

The game against the Warriors in the play-in proved how crucial LeBron is for the Lakers’ success and chances of winning another championship. As Barkley said, there is no way the NBA will suspend LeBron, but things would have probably been different if some other players were in the same situation.
