Several teams are already looking for new head coaches going into the next season. Boston Celtics, Portland Trailblazers, and Orlando Magic are on the lookout for new head coaches, and that number might increase in the upcoming weeks. The Blazers and Terry Stots made a mutual agreement to part ways, just like Magic and Steve Clifford. At the same time, Brad Stevens replaced Danny Ainge’s job, who decided to leave the organization after a disappointing season with the Celtics.
Before the game between the Nets and Bucks, Charles Barkley made an assessment saying there is an interesting occurrence of how specific coaches get fired while the others part ways with the ball club they coached. Barkley always says what he thinks without any filters, and in this particular case, he believes the white coaches part ways while the black coaches get fired.
Mutual parting of ways in Portland and in Orlando. Steve Clifford out with the Magic, Terry Stotts out with the Portland Trail Blazers. America, that means they were white. They fire brothers, they don’t part ways.”Charles Barkley, via NBA on TNT

Even though the rest of the crew laughed and didn’t take Barkley’s take too seriously, there were discussions on how differently black and white coaches are treated and represented in the NBA. There were some initiatives in which more black coaches would get the head positions. Even though we have a few successful black head coaches in the NBA right now, there is a push for that number to increase even more in their favor in the near future.
