Charles Barkley “belongs” to two fanbases. It’s rare that a player has so many good years with two teams as Chuck did. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in ’84 and played there till ’92. He then moved to Phoenix and had a tremendous four years there. Unfortunately for him, as is for many players from his era, Michael Jordan was around at the time so Chuck never won a ring.
The closes he got though was in Phoenix. He hit his apex there, most notably facing MJ and the Bulls in ’92, his first year there. Chuck averaged 25.6 points on .520 shooting, 12.2 rebounds and a career-high 5.1 assists per game. He won the MVP, but the Bulls were too strong.
Barkley fell in love with Phoenix so much he decided to move there permanently and lives there still today. So the struggles the Suns are going through for basically a decade now cut deep with Chuck. That frustration gave us his greatest Inside the NBA rant.
It was just one of those nights. Chuck was frustrated and in the mood, Shaq and Kenny were at the top of their assist game and Earnie “tried” to cheer him up and then just let him go. With his Alabama women, San Antonio women and JaVale Mcgee segments, this is still his funniest rant.
