Former president US Barack Obama is a big fan of basketball and the NBA, and he often likes to talk about any NBA-related topics. He recently made a guest appearance on the Bill Simmons podcast where he spoke about the two of his favorite players in the NBA right now and what makes Stephen Curry and LeBron James so special.
Obama believes both are superior athletes in their own right while comparing them two X-Men because of their incredible abilities on the court. He made a funny comparison of LeBron, who reminds him of Hulk with his sheer strength and athleticism, while on the other hand, Curry reminds him of Cyclops.
“These world-class athletes, they’re like X-Men. Some of them you can tell are like the Hulk. You’re standing next to LeBron, you know he’s a freak. Stand next to Steph, and he’s like one of those guys who has some superpower (where) he takes off his glasses or something. You can’t see right away, but is just as much of a freak.”Barack Obama, via Bill Simmons Podcast
Barack also gave Curry recognition as the greatest shooter of all time, saying he never saw anybody who can shoot the ball so consistently at a high level.
“That’s not even a question, absolutely. I have not seen anybody who can shoot that way, in as many ways, in as unlikely ways, as consistently as Steph Curry. I know Steph well. Everything he does, it’s precise and neat and tight.”Barack Obama, via Bill Simmons Podcast
Even though Obama is a well-known Chicago Bulls fan, he was often seen at different NBA games and, during his time as president, built up relations with numerous great NBA players. James and Curry are just a few of them since Obama is very much loved and respected among current and former NBA players and coaches.
