Away from tabloid’s Lonzo Ball is proving himself once again

Move from Los Angeles to New Orleans is proving to be an excellent thing for Lonzo Ball. After the trade, he got back to work improving his unorthodox shooting technique; he focused on basketball, not on “Ball in the family.” Playing for the young and talented team as their primary ball-handler gave Lonzo confidence he lacked in his first two years in the league. His impact on the game is sometimes not visible when you look at the stats, but he is the perfect addition to the team.

With Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram being main scoring options, Lonzo can play-off his strengths. He has a great passing ability, and with coach Gentrys blessing, he can try to squeeze pass in any window he sees open. Highflying Zion is a perfect receiver of the lob passes, and with a couple of good shooters on the wing, Lonzo can run the offense with his pass-first mindest.

Lonzo credits team chemistry for better performance.

“We finally started playing together – the whole team is pretty much back now. The chemistry is getting better and better every game. Guys know where each other are going to be.”

Pelicans high paced offense allowed him to have six 20+ point games, during his two years in California he had only five games like that. Lonzo also increased his APG, RPG, and FG%, which proves he is evolving in one of the best all-around point guards in the league. Surprisingly, another area he improved is his 3-point shooting. Lonzo is shooting 37.9% from the 3-point line, that’s better than 3-point specialist Danny Green (37.8%)

With this young and talented core Pelicans, fans can be positive about their future. In two years, they went through a quick rebuilding and now can add complementary pieces to become a serious contender. With Lonzo playing without controversy that surrounded him in LA, Pelicans can look forward to his improvement in the seasons to come.
