Amar’e Stoudemire has never seen players as good as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on the same team

Amar’e Stoudemire is one of those names that didn’t get mentioned a lot until he joined forces with his former teammate Steve Nash and accept a coaching position with the Brooklyn Nets. Amar’e ended his career playing overseas, predominantly in China and Isreal, which meant a lot for him personally since he converted to Judaism a few years ago.

In a recent interview for All The Smoke podcast, Amar’e talked about the opportunity to coach for the Nets and re-unite with Nash. A chance to coach and develop players on a team aiming for a championship seems like a great next step for Amar’e, and in a short period, he was able to see first hand how great Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are playing together. Amar’e has been around the game for a long time, and seeing them two every day at practice is really special for him.

It’s been exciting watching these boys in training camp. How do they get after it, how they compete. Both of them are playing at a high level, both of them healthy, and I’ve never seen two players this good before. And I’ve played against a lot of players, I’ve been around the game a long time, but I don’t think I’ever seen two players that are as good as Kyrie and KD.

On top of having Durant and Irving, the Nets have a great group of young and talented players, and from everything Amar’e saw so far, there seems to be great chemistry between all of them. Since he’s starting a first-year coach, Amar’e is humble and looking to help every player both on and off the court. He believes his playing experience will be helpful for all the players on the roster who want to improve and understand what the process of getting there is.

Everyone has great chemistry. Everyone has a great vibe, and everyone are focusing on the goals, and I’m just doing my part being their vocal guy helping them with development. If some guys are looking to improve their skills, I’m there for that, always giving them game, both on and off the court.

After getting on board as the Nets’ new head coach, Nash immediately reached out to Amar’e for his help in player development. Seeing the two together, but this time in different roles, is amazing because there is no doubt they can be as equally successful as they were when playing in the NBA. Irving and Durant can also learn a lot from them because they were for a few years one of the most dynamic duos in the NBA, which everybody is looking at them now to become playing for the Nets.
