ADRIAN WOJNAROWSKI ON THE NBA BOYCOTT: ‘This is a pivot point for the NBA and professional sports in North America.’

After Milwaukee Bucks initiated a boycott of game 5 against the Orlando Magic, other teams decided to respect their colleagues and do the same thing. On top of that, it seems the Bucks owner Alex Lasry supports his players and understands the situation and the reason behind their protest.

Some things are bigger than basketball. The stand taken today by the players and org shows that we’re fed up. Enough is enough. Change needs to happen. I’m incredibly proud of our guys, and we stand 100% behind our players ready to assist and bring about real change.

Shams Charania of The Athletic said the players are planning a follow-up meeting to decide on the next steps after this unprecedented moment in NBA history. Player’s joint effort to act against the US’s social and racial injustice has been a focal point of discussion for several months now, and it’s evident they decided to act immediately.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, this is a ‘pivot point’ in the NBA and other sports. On rare occasions, professional athletes protested in this way, even though it happened but never in front of such a broad audience. NBA players want to get their message out there, and now it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction it will draw from other NBA governors and the fans themselves.
