In 2019, we all know who Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns is, but in 2013, a young 16-year-old Booker took on a challenge of going against Andre Iguodala, who was an All-Star at the time.
Moss Point’s Devin Booker was one of the top recruits in the Class of 2014, eventually committing to a powerhouse program in Kentucky. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard averaged 29.7 points per game for his high school team that season, while Andre Iguodala was an NBA All-Star in 2012. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged 13.0 points and made $16.2 million as a member of the Denver Nuggets in 2012-13.
Even though Iguodala was dressed more casually with a polo shirt and running shoes, he still probably won the duel from the looks of the video. Iguodala was in his prime at the time, and even playing at a slower pace managed to school the youngster. Booker didn’t fail to showcase his skills, either. He showed “Iggy” his sweet shooting stroke we all know him for today as he drained a bunch of threes on him and held his own.
Now in 2019, the 22-year-old Devin Booker is the leader of Phoenix Suns, he averaged 26.6 ppg last season and even had a historic 70-point game in his sophomore year. On the other side, the Grizzlies veteran, Andre Iguodala still has a substantial role in Memphis and a few more years left in the league.
You could say if they went at it again today, it would be still a tough matchup, but Booker would be the favorite.
